SEA-ARMi 1st Symposium

SEA-ARMi 1st Symposium

The SEA-ARMi (Southeast Asia Antifungal Resistance Monitoring Initiative) team proudly organized the inaugural symposium, “Tackling Antifungal Resistance Through a One Health Lens,” as part of the Thailand Society for Biotechnology (TSB) 2025 conference. Supported by the FAILSAFE Programme at Chulalongkorn University and funded by the Medical Research Council Centre for Medical Mycology (MRC CMM), University of Exeter, the symposium showcased ongoing research addressing antifungal resistance from a One Health perspective. We were especially honored to welcome Professor Neil Gow (University of Exeter) as the keynote speaker.

The symposium also highlighted collaborative research across Southeast Asia through the SEA-ARMi network, featuring presentations from: • Indonesia – Universitas Airlangga (Intan Ayu Pratiwi) • Malaysia – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (Jasper J.) • The Philippines – University of Santo Tomas (Jaycee Paguirigan) • Vietnam – Biotechnology Center of Ho Chi Minh City (Phan My Hanh) The event marked an important milestone in strengthening regional collaborations for environmental surveillance and antifungal resistance research across Southeast Asia.
